Thanks to everyone who registered for Farmer's Fat Bike Race. Brewery Vivant, Grand Rapids Bicycle Company, Cannonsburg Ski Area and 616 Bicycle Fabrications are excited to host you at tomorrow's event.
A Word on the weather for tomorrows race!
As many of you have seen the weather forecast for the 12 hour period leading up to the race (friday night into Saturday morning) is calling for rain. The most current forecast (as of this email) has rain ending in the middle of the night between 3am and 6am, with little chance of rain in the morning hours just prior to the race. We're also expecting temps to stay just above freezing, in the mid 30s, from now until the start of the race at noon tomorrow.
As of this morning the trail at Cannonsburg was groomed and in nearly perfect condition. We've had record snowfall this season, almost hip deep this morning when the Farmer stepped off the groomed trail in the woods. We expect that conditions tomorrow will not be ideal, but we intend to move forward with our event. This is michigan after all and this is Farmer's race and the Farmer doesn't worry about conditions, he just gets on his fatbike and rides it!
Please take the weather forecast for Belmont, Michigan into consideration when planning for tomorrow's race and come prepared for potentially sloppy conditions.
If you need to warm up and grab a coffee or hot chocolate, the Cannonsburg Lodge is well stocked with plenty of room to relax before, after or even during the race. Tomorrow the Cedar Lodge (upstairs) at Cannonsburg will also be open, they have many taps featuring craft beer and they also serve Brewery Vivant Farmhand Ale.
While you are at Cannonsburg access to the race course requires that you have a race number plate attached to your bike. The start/finish area and the pit area, where you can drop a bag or pitch an EZ Up tent, are to the East of the ski hills, approximately 200 or more yards from the Lodge and parking area, in the same spot as last year. All gear needs to be carried in and out, so keep that in mind when packing for the race.
Number/chip pick-up can be done tonight (Friday) from 5-8 at Ada Bike Shop www.adabike.com Or Saturday prior to the race at the Cannonsburg Lodge from 9:30-11:30 am
Timing Chips will be fixed to your number plates.
If you are on a duo team BOTH MEMBERS OF YOUR TEAM MUST SIGN IN TOGETHER BEFORE WE WILL RELEASE YOUR NUMBER PLATE!
Race Rules and more detailed race information can be found on the Farm Team website
Don't forget that Awards will take place at 4PM inside the Cannonsburg Lodge. We have a room reserved on the 1st floor and we'll be serving Brewery Vivant Farmhand Ale. And we'll be doing a drawing for a set of Fatbike Hubs from 616 Bicycle Fabrications (you must be present to win)!
